The Divine Wolf... or?

Chapter 233: Inferno.

In the dungeon, Ark was simply taking a look around when the sea of fire suddenly surged in front of him, and a creature condensed of blue flames suddenly charged straight at him. The creature was a kind of wisp. A creature that was known for being docile and weak, simply emitting a gentle heat like a candle flame.

However, even wisps could grow to become strong, and this wisp in front of Ark was in the level 200 range, perhaps even stronger, which meant that it was naturally stronger than most monsters that adventurers could handle. Combined with the heat of the sea of fire, the attack of the wisp was pretty devastating.

Ark was intrigued by the attack and activated his [Chaos Soul] before sending a chaos lance at it to see what kind of damage it would do. To his surprise, the lance didn't do a lot of damage, but it wasn't ineffective either. Ark sighed to himself, it seemed like he would have to level up his [Chaos Magic] a bit more before it was usable in a battle against strong enemies.

Still having his soul activated, Ark waved his hand and activated a simple spatial spell.

Although it was simple, it required a larger amount of mana than Ark had expected, and he regretted it a little after using it. The wisp that was charging at him was stunned in place and couldn't move. Before it had a chance to break out, the surrounding space collapsed upon itself and devoured the wisp whole.

Although he had spent a bit too much mana, Ark had managed to level up two times because of the massive level difference.

Since he already had 25 status points that he had forgotten to invest, he now had a total of 35, all of which he promptly invested into his intelligence. This brought his intelligence to a total of 395, and if he levelled up one more time, it would hit 400. Ark was interested to see if he would get any interesting skills upon reaching 400 intelligence, so he felt a little more excited to fight.

The sea of fire in front of him seemed to respond to Ark's thought, as it surged once more, and another creature came charging out of it.

This time, the creature that came out was a black hound surrounded by scarlet flames that burned intensely. This creature was a hellhound and was certainly a step stronger than the wisp that Ark had just annihilated. Even though that was the case, Ark was excited and summoned his holy spear. After taking up a stance, he stabbed out before the hellhound could reach him.

The spear seemed to disappear into the void, after which it suddenly appeared in front of the hellhound, piercing through the very fabric of space itself.

The hellhound tried to dodge to the best of its abilities, but the spear still hit one of its legs, which was completely blasted apart. The hellhound howled in rage, and the flames surrounding its body grew stronger and started burning more fiercely than before. The sea of fire burning brightly behind it seemed to react as well, boosting the power of the creature's flame even more.

Ark was surprised by the phenomenon, as the sea of fire had also aided the wisp earlier. It seemed that this sea of fire was more complete than Ark had originally thought.

Ark wasn't really phased by the hellhound's rage, or the fact that its flames had grown stronger, he simply took up an ordinary stance again and waited for an opportunity. The hellhound saw him take up the same stance as before and grew even angrier. Its anger fueled the flames on its body even more, and its colour grew even darker.

As it started running toward him, Ark shifted his centre of gravity, and simply stabbed forward again.

The hellhound reacted quickly and employed a massive amount of mana to shield itself toward the front. However, Ark's attack wasn't that easy to predict, and as the spear strike disappeared into the void, the space above the hellhound's back suddenly opened up, and the attack pierced through.

All the space in the path of the attack was pierced through, and since the hellhound had concentrated its efforts in the wrong place, the attack blasted a large hole in its back.

Although it didn't immediately pass away, the attack was enough to take the hellhound's life, and its life force slowly drained. It had an unwilling and ferocious look in its eyes, but Ark simply stood there and watched as it died with apathy. After the hellhound was finally dead, Ark levelled up once more, and his intelligence finally reached 400 after he invested his stat points.

[Due to the host reaching 400 intelligence and having absolute affinity to all elements, the host has received the skill Magic Fusion.]

[Magic Fusion]

[Allows the host to fuse elemental magic with each other, at the expense of mana. The degree and strength of fusion are decided by the host's mana and mana manipulation.]

It was a simple description, but Ark could already see the great potential of this skill if it was used properly. Some elements complemented each other greatly, and if he fused them then he felt like he would be able to create some truly devastating attacks. The only factor he was worried about was mana expenditure.

If the expenditure was too much, then it would be more worth it to just use chaos magic instead, or just normal magic in combination with skills.

Since the dungeon was the perfect place to test this new magic out, Ark simply waited for a few minutes, and eventually, a new creature appeared out of the flames. This creature was a large horse that was over three meters tall. Its body looked fairly normal, the only difference was the mane, as it was burning with fierce yellow flames.

Ark had never seen this type of horse before, nor had he read about it, but he could feel that its strength was around the same level as the hellhound.

The horse ran at Ark with an immense amount of speed that was further augmented by the sea of fire behind it. Ark took a stance with the spear, and this time, he tried the new magic fusion skill. When he stabbed out, the spear was barely even a blur, and it stabbed into the void and disappeared.

The void opened up, and the attack came flying at the horse with an immense speed, shattering space as it went.

The horse had no time to react at all and was shattered into pieces by the fracturing of space, dying in one hit. Ark looked at the spectacle with some surprise, it seemed like this magic fusion skill was more useful than he thought it would be.

He had just combined his spatial magic with wind magic, and the attack became more than twice as unpredictable as before, whilst the power became enhanced too.

Before, the unpredictable part was where the spear would appear, since it would suddenly disappear into the void and then appear again. But now, with the enhancement of wind magic, the speed of the spear was much faster, which meant that it also travelled through space faster, making it much harder for the enemy to react.
