Chapter 229 I love you forever
229 I love you forever
Inside the royal palace on top of a luxurious bed, Sylvia was resting peacefully. Well, sort of. Beads of sweat formed on her head occasionally and pained expressions appeared on her face from time to time. Anyone could clearly see that she was not peacefully sleeping.
Unnhhh... Sylvia bit her lips and Mikel quickly took a washcloth to wipe her head and whispered quietly in her ears. "I am still here. I love you. I am not going anywhere."
The girl's expression immediately became normal. Whatever Mikel did it worked. Nevertheless, the King's face twitched. "You know you are the one who is responsible for her current condition." Another voice spoke up, perfectly summing up the atmosphere in the room.
Mikel looked up to see that Roman had come to pay a visit to Sylvia along with another wolf. "Roman." Mikel quickly stood up to greet the Lycan lord. "I need to talk to you." Nôv(el)B\\jnn
The two of them walked away to a secluded spot in the gardens right outside Sylvia's chambers. They did not go too far as neither of them wished to be away from her.
"Thank you for helping me. Thank you for-" Mikel started but Roman immediately stopped him. "If this is what you called me for, then..." The guy started to walk back. Mikel chuckled at his behavior. He did not say anything because he was truly indebted to this person but there was still something he needed to make clear.
"I am thankful to you but she is mine," Mikel said it. Loud and clear.
Roman paused and became silent for a moment. He then continued walking out of the room. The King's face twitched again and he too left the room.
Outside the room, Grandpa Akhekh started laughing out loud. "Ah to be young and in love. My granddaughter is very popular."
Frederick Akhekh rolled his eyes. He did not like that. More importantly, he did not like Mikel. He did not know why but he had an indescribable urge to punch the living daylights out of the guy. If only he could use his full strength and ... before he could finish his thought...
BOOOOOM!
Frederick Akhekh's eyes went wide as his fantasy was coming true right in front of his eyes. Mikel's face was smashed by a fist and the man was jammed right onto the palatial wall that was not in the least soft.
Was he even alive still? Frederick Akhekh smirked.
His smirk turned into a full-blown grin as he saw the person responsible for this mega-awesome punch. It was none other than his daughter.
Sylvia walked out, her eyes burning with anger. Frederick Akhekh, Grandpa Akhekh and even Roman who had come back now after hearing the commotion, every single one of them wanted to approach her and ask if she was feeling better now. But...
Right at this moment, no one dared to go near her.
"Do you think I am a doll for you to play with?" Sylvia boiled in rage and turned her blazing gaze towards Mikel, who was slowly peeling himself off the wall.
Mikel, rubbing his jaw, managed to find his voice, albeit a little strained from the impact. "Sylvia, I didn't mean it like that. Please let me explain. I—"
"You. Right. It's all about you. It's always about you. What about me? What about my feelings? Who gave you the right to come and go as you please? You are no longer welcome in my life. How dare you treat me like this?"
BOOOOM!
Another punch resounded and this time it completely shattered that part of the wall and the building.
And Sylvia did not stop there.
Treating Mikel like some sort of a rag doll, she continued to land one punch after another, breaking one wall after another, finally smashing him right into the ground, destroying a big part of the beautiful gardens.
Mikel was frustrated. He was now grievously injured and bleeding from many places. He did not mind taking it from the woman he loved. He did not even care if she killed him out of her anger. He came here prepared. He knew he deserved it.
But also, he did not want to die. He wanted to live with her. A long and happy life.
He turned to the King for help when he saw that the King, the grandfather, and Roman were standing quietly on the side, two of the three of them clearly enjoying the show. They had extremely satisfied expressions on their faces.
Mikel's face twitched. He turned to look back at Sylvia and she was also in no condition to listen to him.
Mikel could only helplessly let out a sigh. It looked like he had to resort to that after all. He wanted to be a little respectful and not do this but this damned family was not giving him any chance at all.
Before Sylvia could pummel him once again to his death, he took out a rune from his pocket and tossed it at the angry albeit breathtaking woman. "Slow down my dear." The rune bound her and momentarily restrained her. Then right in front of everyone's eyes he walked to her and kissed her.
Sylvia shuddered. The rune's effect had already worn off but she stood still. Her heart was filled with rage and her eyes were filled with tears. She hated the man in front of her to the core. She hated everything about him and yet... a pang prickled her heart.
The mark on her chest glowed and along with it, the other half of the mark on Mikel's body also glowed.
Before Sylvia could do anything, a flood of memories assaulted her. Pain rippled across her mind as she started accessing Mikel's mind, his life, and everything through their shared bond.
One by one all the memories flitted past her mind.
Sylvia witnessed Mikel's struggles, his battles fought in the shadows. She saw him forging alliances with questionable entities, risking his very soul to gain the power needed, all because he wanted to stand beside her.
His sacrifices, his pain, and his loneliness unfolded before her, a stark contrast to the image of him she had held onto in her anger. He had yearned for her every single second.
She saw his moments of despair, where the only thing that kept him from being consumed by the darkness he was fighting against was the thought of her, of returning to her side, of fighting together for a future where they could be at peace.
She felt his love for her, a constant, unwavering flame that burned even in the darkest of his days. It was pure and profound, untouched by the darkness he had contended with. It was this love that drove him to return, battered and changed but hopeful.
The flood of memories ceased as suddenly as it had begun, leaving Sylvia gasping for breath, her anger dissipated, replaced by an overwhelming rush of emotions she couldn't immediately name.
Her gaze on Mikel softened, the remnants of her fury replaced by a dawning understanding and a heart-wrenching guilt for the pain her own actions had just inflicted on him.
Mikel, despite his injuries, reached out to gently wipe away the tears that had started to stream down Sylvia's cheeks.
"I'm sorry you had to see all that," he whispered, his voice hoarse, "but I needed you to know the truth. All of it. I would never willingly leave you, Sylvia. Not then, not now, not ever."
Sylvia, overcome by the depth of what she'd just experienced, threw her arms around Mikel, pulling him close despite his wounds. "I'm sorry... I didn't know. I was so angry, can you forgive me?"
No. She was not weak but the man in front of her had suffered so much more than she had. From the beginning to the end he had always intended to return to her side. It was not weakness to forgive him.
However, Sylvia peeled away from him and her face changed slightly. "This is the last time I am forgiving you." She said in a nasaly voice, tears still continuing to fall. "If you leave me again, then there will be no forgiveness."
Mikel smiled. "You better not regret your words." He pulled her closer and kissed her again. "I will never leave you even if you beg me to."
Meanwhile...
Roman silently left after hearing straight from Sylvia how she felt. He knew there was no point in him being here any longer. After he left, the somber atmosphere picked up as Grandpa Akhekh laughed loudly at the darkened face of his son, the King.
"I hear wedding bells Frederick." The King grumbled in response.
"He is not a bad addition to the kingdom. He is knowledgeable in rune crafting after all. I will accept this marriage for political purposes." The King then turned around to leave. Granpa Akhekh buckled over in laughter unable to contain himself.
"This stubborn idiot." He decided to leave as well after blessing the couple but laughed as they clearly didn't want to be disturbed. "Ah to be young and in love." Peace once again returned to the royal palace.
