Chapter 182: The Battle - Part 2
The lady just sliced the neck of her target when her bloodline reacted to an incoming fatal threat.
She realized she was in danger and wanted to avoid the sneak attack. She knew it was too late to avoid the attack and did the only thing she could do.
She increased the power of her armor.
Bang!
The arrow hit her.
She stumbled forward for a couple of steps before regaining her footing.
The blue light around her armor dimmed, but she wasn't concerned about that.
She checked her body for any injury and found none. She sighed in relief and looked in the direction of the attack.
She sent her consciousness into the Spirit Comms and warned the others.
Done with that, she changed the spirit stone on her armor to a new one, and the dimmed blue light shone brightly.
Everything she did only took a couple of seconds. She didn't care about those in front of her and bolted toward the attack location.
Those that tried to halt her passage were cleaved into two by her sword.
Meanwhile, the young man that attacked with the arrow was shocked by the armor defense.
'How could this happen?' He cried in his heart.
This was the first time he failed in killing his target. He was part of the Death Shadow organization.
He had made his way from an unknown assassin to a bronze-rank assassin. This all depended on his killing shot.
The destruction of the Celestial Heavenly stores was posted on their mission. The mission was only for the bronze rank to the silver rank.
He was a bronze-rank assassin, and he was to kill an open target. This was the easiest job he ever got, but he failed.
How could he fail to kill a Qi Refinement warrior? His bow and arrow were from the organization which cost him a lot of spirit stones.
But it was worth it since the Death Shadow had the best blacksmith in the city, and the bow and arrow never failed to deliver, not until today.
Just as he was lost in his failure, he saw his target rushing toward his direction.
"What the…" His heart skipped a beat.
He didn't think twice as he gathered his gear and tried to escape.
As an assassin, his expertise lay in catching his target off guard, not the other way around.
Also, being an assassin, they know how to use darkness to their advantage.
The young man moved swiftly through the darkness, trying to escape.
Unfortunately for him, the battle spanned throughout the street, and there was no place to hide.
His movement skill was good but not the best. Besides, he was only at the Intermediate Qi Refinement realm stage 5.
How could he outrun a barren lander of the same realm?
They had better cultivation techniques and movement skills. Apart from that, the armor boosted their speed to a realm beyond Qi Refinement stage.
The young man could only run for a couple of meters before the shadow of death covered him.
'Danger!' he screamed in his mind.
His heart pounded heavily against his chest as if it wanted to escape from the impending doom.
'What should I do? What should I do?' Sweats gathered on his forehead as his thoughts were in disarray.
From the corner of his eye, he saw a powerful sword light at his back.
Bang!
Ah!
A scream of anguish escaped from his mouth as he flung against the wall.
A ghastly cut appeared right from his waist back to his neck. His spinal cord was visible with blood gushing like a broken dam.
He was in so much pain that he wished he could die immediately.
Right there, he saw the lady appeared in front of him. He could feel the bone-chilling gaze from her in the darkness and a tinge of regret filled his heart.
Bang!
Ah!
His left arm was severed from his body, and he cried with tears dripping from his eyes.
Ah!
Another arm was severed. She took her time to dissect him slowly, cutting off arms and limbs.
Lastly, she struck the visible spinal cord.
Ahhhhh!
He screamed at the top of his lungs. It was the primal scream from the depth of his soul.
Instantly, everyone stopped their battle and looked in the direction of the voice.
Their spines drenched in cold sweats.
How inhumane was the torture for him to make such a cry. Even those in the shadow shivered slightly.
Looking at the cold ruthless expression of the lady, they swallowed the lump in their throat.
Where did the store get such a ruthless fellow? They thought in their minds.
It was when another miserable scream echoed on the street that everyone woke from their trance.
They may be scared and pity the young man, but their life was at risk also.
Quickly, the battle resumed with everyone throwing everything they got to preserve their lives.
The battle looked deadly and fierce from a distance, but everyone with discerning eyes would see that it was not.
One side was trying to preserve their pathetic lives while the other was harvesting it with ease.
Hundreds of people came to besiege the stores, but now they've turned to corpses.
The only few still standing were trying desperately to keep their life as they tried to escape.
The Foundation expert in the dark waited patiently for the appearance of the powerful figure but found none.
Therefore, they decided it was time to step into the battle.
As long they could eradicate the store and get the secret of the Spirit Comms.
The power behind them won't care about the lives of those they killed.
As the ten attendants were trying to kill those that were trying to escape, a powerful pressure came from every corner of the street.
The Foundation Building experts appeared one after the others.
Those that were trying to escape saw this and breathed a sigh of relief.
We're safe. So they thought.
